I've been having a rough go of things lately, so much so that I sought out a primary doctor and medication to help with the lows and irritability I've been experiencing.
Well I've now started and stopped the medication because it has caused me quite a bit of insomnia and I definitely do not need that with a three year old and an eighteen month old!
I also started reading a book I picked up at the OLPS garage sale titled "My Monastery is a Minivan" by Denise Roy. The title just caught my eye and I'm sure glad it did! It is a compilation of 35 short stories from the author's life as a mother.
I read a story on my lunch break tonight at work and had tears in my eyes because it was like I was reading a story I could have wrote! The author wrote of arguing with her pre-school age daughter over getting dressed that morning to the point that she was angry with her daughter and her daughter was in tears. Then, as they were driving to school, she looked in her rear view mirror at a sleeping angel with a tear-streaked face and thought to herself how she was supposed to be her daughter's anchor and support and that she had let her down.
This story made me feel normal. So maybe I didn't need the medication all along; maybe I just needed to read this story and realize that no one is perfect, but God chose me as the perfect mother to my two little girls.

New look
I've been meaning to update the picture on the blog header for a while, but haven't had a chance.
The picture that is now the blog header is the picture I had in mind for it when I took the picture, but it sure didn't come out how I wanted!
I went ahead and included this picture as the header because this is our typical picture of the girls these days!
Have a good week!

Boot
Please notice Mary Claire's "shoes!"
Mary Claire ran into the living room from the kitchen saying, "I Miss Brigette!" I looked down and saw two different shoes - one rubber boot and one pink flip flop!
Miss Brigette is a teacher at day care who is currently wearing a walking boot to hopefully correct a heel problem!!!
The rest of the evening Mary Claire wore the boot and would say, "Come on threes!"
This girl doesn't miss a thing!!

Fighting
Seriously, when does the fighting stop??!?!?
My girls are 22.5 months apart and they fight like cats and dogs. When one has something (it could be a piece of trash!), the other girl wants it....doesn't matter what it is! When I'm holding one girl, the other girl is screaming and crying because I'm not holding her! I just don't know what it is!
My cousin (Hi, Rob!) and I were talking about this the one of the first days Poppa was in the hospital. Rob has two boys and I have two girls. We were talking about this very issue, and Rob, very astutely, reminded me that I have TWO GIRLS - two kids of the same sex. What he meant by this was that there are no set boundaries as to whose toys are whose. How true he was! I mean, when one girl gets something it becomes free territory; there is no, "Ewww, that's a boy toy!" or "Ewww, that's just for girls!" because all the toys we have are considered 'girl toys.'
I guess I'm just wondering....does the fighting ever really stop?
And I'm also wondering.....how does one go about setting "toy boundaries??"
Any suggestions or thoughts??

Fun at the park!
We met Daddy on his break at the park in Pineville Wednesday to bring him some supper. The girls had a great time and are already asking to go back!
Check out how long Mary Claire's legs are on the slide! My baby girl is growing up!

Hilarious!
This past weekend we had a garage sale (and a very successful one at that!!), so the girls and I spent Friday night at Nannie's house along with Aunt Nel.
Well, Molly went to sleep at her normal 8pm-ish, but Mary Claire stayed up late with the rest of us. I told her we were going to sleep, and she says her normal, "I'm not your friend!" I look at her and tell her that I'm Nannie's friend, to which she replies, "No, I'm her friend!" I then repeat with telling her I'm Daddy's friend, and she replies that she's 'him's friend.' I then look at her and say, "Well, I'm Aunt Nel's friend!" And, without skipping a beat, Mary Claire says....
"You can have Aunt Nel!"
I seriously thought Nannie, Aunt Nel and I were going to die laughing! We all had tears pouring out of our eyes and just laughing and laughing!
This age is so wonderful to me! I was warned that the threes seem to most people to be worse than the twos, but I have to disagree with them. Mary Claire understands a lot at this age and just seems so mature and much easier to deal with. She is a really sweet girl and I'm lucky to be her Momma! (I just hope Molly is like her! Hahaha!)

Thirty two!
Wow! How can I be thirty two years old, but still feel like a young spring chicken? :)
Seriously, I do not feel 32!
For my birthday, I took the day off and we kept the girls home. We ran a couple of errands in the morning, then went home and I packed us a quick picnic lunch. We then drove to Dodson, Louisiana to see the daffodil field. I was sorely disappointed in the field. There were some blooms, but not enough to "Wow!" me. We ate our picnic lunch and then tried to get some good pictures of the girls, but no such luck; the girls were just not having it! I was disappointed in just about the whole thing - very little flowers and then my girls were not cooperative at all!
For supper we ate at Nannie and Poppa's. Poppa fried fish that everyone raved over, but Brian and I didn't eat any because we gave up fried foods for Lent. Brian made some shrimp fettuccine alfredo that was really good, but really spicy! Vince joined us, along with David and Aspen and baby Anna. Nannie had made, at my request, peanut butter pie and strawberry cake....YUMMY!!!
All in all, it was a good day!
Thirty two feels great!
