I did it!

Molly loves saying this! I wish I had thought to video her yesterday at the park. She would climb up the play equipment, slide down the bigger, curvy slide and then run over to Brian and me yelling, "I did it!" It was just too cute!

Well, this morning Molly had her surgery. She was so funny on the versed singing and swaying and making her baby doll hit Brian. Then she looked so small on that big stretcher as they wheeled her away. But, seriously, in about ten minutes they were calling us back to talk to the doctor! Everything went great!

Then the fun started...her coming out of anesthesia. I really think she would have been fine if they had taken the Iv out, and we understand why they don't, but she cried and cried and tried to pull it out before she finally fell asleep.

It was not a bad experience, but not one I want to have to go through again any time soon!

Molly

This sweet girl will have a minor surgery this Friday.

I'm trying not to contemplate too much on it for fear that I'll just be inconsolable thinking about my baby under anesthesia.

Molly is having tubes placed in her ears and her adenoids removed. We hope this makes her feel better and prevent any possible hearing loss that could occur. I was happy to see that she did pass her initial hearing test!

Please keep us in your prayers Friday.

Flowers make me smile

Sick girl

This picture was taken at Urgent Care before her fever broke. Thank God the strep test came back negative! The diagnosis is tonsillitis and we got a prescription for an antibiotic and an oral steroid.

Get better Mary Claire!

April 18, 2012

Just for documentation purposes:

This was a big day for us in the Brodnax household.

We "stopped by Prompt Succor" to join the church {we did} and we also pretty much decided Mary Claire will start their 3 year old program in August.

We learned that Molly needs to have tubes placed in her ears and her adenoids removed. This will happen next Friday, April 27.

Kent House Herb Day

We saw that the Kent House (the oldest building in Rapides Parish) was having their annual Herb Day, so we decided to take the girls just to do something different and fun.

I love, love, love this picture!

The best pictures I get lately! Love my girls!

Fly-in

Brian and I took the kids to the fly-in at the Buhlow airport. This is just a day a bunch of local pilots "fly-in" and have their planes/helicopters/etc on display for public viewing. We were hoping to have the kids go up in a plane, but the winds that day were 20-25 mph! There was no way we would have allowed that!

Please note Mary Claire's earrings and necklace; this is what she bought with her Easter money from Nannie and Poppa! The girl is a girly girl - what can I say??

This was the coolest! This guy was flying this thing when we first got there!

Walking the "plane line!"

This little dude was super fast! He took off as we were leaving!

On the go

I've come to find out that my girls and I do better if I have something planned for them. We do not do well staying at home at all! So I'm trying to fill our weekends with fun activities. So far we've been to the zoo a couple of times, the park, Herb Day at the Kent House (pictures to come soon!) and the local fly-in at Buhlow. I find that I cherish seeing them explore and learn and just play.

Don't get me wrong, we explore and learn and play at home, but it's just a lot more fun at new and exciting places!

I'm hoping my schedule works out Mother's Day weekend (yes, I have to work) that we can go to the Dragon Boat races Saturday morning. I'm interested in this and I think it would be a fun family excursion!

Now, I've got to find us something to do THIS weekend!

Easter Weekend 2012

Easter weekend 2012 was fabulous!! I've come to figure out that the girls and I do best when we get out of the house to do something. I had my doubts that the weekend was going to be good when Poppa John called me at work Friday about 1:45pm that Nannie, who was keeping Mary Claire and Molly while Brian and I both worked day shift, was sick and that he was at Gammie's house with the ambulance trying to pick her up after a fall in the bathroom. So I left work early to go rescue Nannie from the girls and Poppa calls that he just got into a wreck! Talk about a crazy couple of hours! In the end, every one is fine and doing much better now.

Friday afternoon I decided that the girls and I would go to Kees Park in Pineville. Sadly, I only carried my cell phone with me so all my pictures are on there. One day I will ask Brian how to download them to the computer so I can post them on here. The girls had a blast and listened and played so well that I can't wait to go back!

Saturday I decided that we would go to the zoo. I picked the girls up some lunch and we stopped at Nannie and Poppa's to eat. Then we headed to the zoo and saw some amazing things!

A momma monkey and her baby!
I just love flamingos!

My sweet girls watching the otters!

Mary Claire's "cheese" face!

Mommy's "cheese" face! Mary Claire wanted to take a picture!

Both mesmerized by something!

Mary Claire posing on the panda at the playground!

Sweet Molly and "Bibby!"

Watching the turtle! She was scared last week of them!

BOTH the bears were out!

This was the best - the female white tiger playing in her pool with a medicine ball!

The monkey came to talk to us!

A momma kangaroo and her little joey!

The Andean condors both had their wings spread!

After the zoo we headed back to Nannie and Poppa's house to dye Easter eggs! Molly was a little aggravated that she didn't get to "help" as much as she liked, but we all had a good time!

Easter Sunday was a beautiful day! The girls and I slept in (me until 8am and them until 8:30am!). We then got dressed and headed over to St. Rita's for the Easter egg hunt. I had Mary Claire in the 3-5 year old section and Molly and I were waiting in the 0-2 year old section. They finally yelled, "Start!" and we headed out.....for only a second or so. Molly and I got into fire ants. :( Her poor feet are covered in bites. I scurried Mary Claire out of there and we headed to Nannie's house. We had a bubble gun and had a lot of fun with that! Gammie, Granddad, Nannie, Poppa, Uncle Mike, Aunt Billie, Hayden, Michael, David, Aspen, Tucker and the girls and me were all there for lunch! We spent most of the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather hunting eggs, swinging and bike riding! It was a glorious day!

Beautiful Mary Claire!

Self-portrait with my oldest girl!

Beautiful Molly!

This was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time and I am so glad I have so many pictures to remember it by!
