When I started to really look into seeing if we could financially afford another baby, I went back a couple of months to see how much money we spent at Wal-Mart each month. We tend to shop at Wal-Mart for the convenience {close to our house, has everything we need, etc}. But one problem I found was that, because it had EVERYTHING we needed, it also had a lot of extras, too!
I love when Brian goes shopping with me because it helps out with the girls so much, but when he is with me, we tend to wander off the list a little too much! I've gotten to where I usually do my Wal-Mart run on my days off during the week, and I carry a list and stick to it.
This current week's menu is/was (and note that Taylor is here this week):
Sunday (after driving in from New Orleans) - Little Ceaser's pizza - $12
Monday (I had to work evenings) - leftover pizza
Tuesday - chicken and dumplings, pinto beans and biscuits
Wednesday - bbq beef po-boys, chips and leftover pinto beans
Thursday - leftovers or grilled hotdogs
Friday (Brian works nights) - leftovers for girls and myself
Saturday (Brian works nights) - taco soup for me and frozen lasagna for girls
Sunday (Brian works nights) - haven't gotten this far yet, but, honestly, it will probably be a replay of Saturday evening
I went to Wal-Mart Monday morning after dropping the girls off at day care. I spent a total of $138.58 for the week and that included $13.44 for three lantana plants to fill in my front flower bed {see, Wal-Mart has too much!!}, $6 for Father's Day cards and birthday cards, and $18 for diapers. So I spent right at $100 for groceries for the week. My goal is to keep it around $100/week and I feel proud of myself for meeting this goal on a week Taylor is with us.
I'm already trying to think ahead to next week!
ETA: This includes sandwich fixings and frozen pizzas for lunch.
