First broken bone…

I was inside folding clothes while Mary Claire and Molly were outside playing when I hear a horrible cry of pain. I run outside to find Mary Claire on the ground under the monkey bars; she had fallen on her hand. Of course Brian was already gone to work, but I called and told him what happened. Then I called Nannie to come over to see what she thought. We decided to have it checked out, so we headed to Urgent Care.

And this is what we came out of there with:

We got a buckle fracture of the radius and possibly one of the ulna. We will get an appointment with an orthopedic doctor to get a cast and whatever else we need.

Poor Mary Claire was hysterical when we decided to go to Urgent Care. Nannie and I calmed her enough as we talked her through getting the X-ray. But none of us were prepared to hear of fractures and  a cast! So then Mary Claire was hysterical again after getting her splint; I'm sure she was just worried about lots of things - mainly how she was going to sleep! She's doing just fine with sleeping right now!!

And this little Sassafras - she was too funny. After Urgent Care we met Daddy and Poppa John at Popeyes. She ran in and told everyone, "Look at Mary's arm!" I have them sleeping separately for two reasons - I don't want Molly rolling onto Mary Claire's arm and I don't want Mary Claire bopping Molly in the head with her splint and future cast!

Whew - what an evening it's been!
