First spoon feeding....

Mary Claire's first spoon feeding was very interesting to say the least. It did not go as well as we thought it would. She had no idea what to do with the cereal once it was in her mouth. The good thing was that she did not thrust it out with her tongue, which means that she has outgrown the tongue-thrust reflex. So, technically, she is ready for spoon-feeding, but we are slowly having to teach her. We finally figured out to fix her a bottle to go with the cereal, and we would let her suck on the bottle, take it from her and give her a bit of the cereal and then give her the bottle back. This worked great! She even got to where she would go after the spoon! We have it on video, but I have to wait for Brian to download it from the camcorder - that is his area of expertise - and then I will try to post it on here!

Another milestone - Mary Claire has discovered her voice! It is precious! She "sings" all the time now....mostly when she's sleepy but also when she's mad (like the sun is in her eyes in the car)! Brian recorded it for me on my phone so that is my new ringtone! This kid amazes me every day!

Mary Claire is laying down playing on her activity mat right now - I just walked over to check on her from the kitchen and watched her reach over and grab her pacifier! She tried to put it in her mouth but dropped it! How cool is that???? She is also hitting and grabbing at her toys that hang in front of her! My baby is growing up!

We have also noticed Mary Claire trying to sit up, especially when we have her reclined in our laps or in her swing or her car seat! She holds her head up really well now and is doing alot better with tummy time.

This Mommy thing is amazing and all the middle of the night feedings are well worth it! Yes, Mary Claire only slept 8 hours that ONE time, but, hey, big girls like to eat!!
